Obituary For Gerard Anton Dieters
We are mourning the loss of Mr. Gerard Anton Dieters. Loving and beloved husband to Jean, devoted father to Stefan, Mark and Corinna and loyal friend.
Instead of flowers the family would like you to consider a charitable donation to an organisation of your choice in rememberance of Gerards generous nature.
Forever in our Hearts.
The Funeral Service will be held on FRIDAY (18/10) in the Wilson Chapel at Springvale Botanical Cemetery and will be followed by a private cremation.
Following the Service you are warmly invited to stay for some light refreshments at the Function Rooms to share those memories and stories of Gerard.

Thinking of the family during this time as memories of Gerard's glorious life is shared. I was honoured to get to know him over the many years, he was always kind, considerate and so very welcoming. May the family treasure what gifts he shared with the world. Leoni

Dear Stefan I have fond memories of meeting you and spending time in that group of friends over that Summer. I don't think I ever met your father but every tribute makes it clear he and Jean have been inspirational human beings. Please accept my sincere condolences and may you be comforted by this outpouring of love and respect for your father. Lucy Bastecky (nee Rogers)

To the Dieters Family, my sincere condolences on the passing of Gerard. He was such a lovely man, of whom I have memories of him always smiling, very welcoming, a great listener and not afraid of a spirited debate! I met Gerard & Jean as a friend of Stefan's and I always enjoyed visiting them. My teenage memories remind me that I thought Gerard was a warm, giant of a man - in more ways than one. Rest in peace following a life well-lived.

We share in sorrow now that you are not with us anymore. Chance put us together in the fifties in Amsterdam Together with cousin John we explored the river valies and mountains in New Zealand and I was at your wedding to Jean. Later we both came to Australia and found new opportunities and friendships. You enjoyed a very long life as did your family in Holland. We will miss you. Goodbye my friend. - Ben de Jong and family, Melbourne. Aust.

Dear Jean, Dear Family, We are truly sorry to hear of Gerard's passing. Even though he lived on the other side of the world, he always remained closely connected with our family in the Netherlands. We have many good memories of Jean and Gerard visiting the Netherlands, as well as our visits to them in Australia. I especially remember how warmly he welcomed my family and me when we traveled to Australia, as well as the time he welcomed me when I traveled there on my own. He was kind, generous, and wise, and I greatly valued the interesting conversations we shared. He will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with Jean and the family, and we wish you all strength in the difficult days ahead. Love, Manon and Carlos

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear uncle. His life was one of great enterprise and success, a true inspiration to all who knew him. Though we are grateful for the many years of a life well-lived, it does not lessen the sense of loss felt by family and friends. May you find strength in each other and comfort in the beautiful memories you shared with him. With heartfelt sympathy, Ina, Hans, and family.

Dear Jean , Dear Family, the loss of Gerard is heartbreaking, but he will live forever in our many memories. Even though we were apart by long distance, we managed to see each other quit regular in the past decades. It was always like coming home meeting Gerard and Jean in Australia. We loved the intense and fruitful discussions with Gerard and of course his winning laughter. He was an inspiration and role model for us. Every time we left each other, Gerard mentions it would be the last time. Luckily two decades we proved that black is white, unfortunately last time Gerard was right. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Petra and Eric

Being a uni friend of Stefan's, I knew Gerard for over 40 years and always found him to be a lovely, kind man. He liked to understand things and would love a good, lively debate, but was always respectful. I did a small amount of IT work for him & Jean, and he bent over backwards to be helpful. Their home was always welcoming (with or without Stefan) and I spent many wonderful hours there. Rest in peace Gerard.

He was a very generous and caring person who I learned a lot from in terms of business, life and good values. Our thoughts are with Corinna and the whole family at this time while we celebrate a special person who we feel lucky to have known.

Dear family, Our condolences on the death of your husband, father and grandfather. The first thoughts that came to mind when we thought of Gerard, was the interrest he showed in his family. He always asked how the kids are doing in school and how are we doing at work and if we had plans for the future. It was always nice to talk to him, for example about Australia, economics and politics. His stories about his travels around the world were also very fascinating. The most intens memory for us was the invitation to visit him and Jean in Australia. We are still grateful for it. He and Jean were waiting for us at the airport. We were received very hospitably in their home. It was a warm welcome. We wish the family strenght with the loss of Gerard. We will miss him. Stefan, Rosanne, Saskia and Jaap

Corinna, only met your Dad a few times, but I always found him to be a person interested in others which to me spoke volumes about the man. Joy and I are deeply sorry for your loss which I'm sure despite Gerard's good age will be very painful. My Dad passed away at 97 and while we celebrated his life we miss him to this day. Thinking of you at this difficult time.
